Have Questions?

Masks are OPTIONAL at your visit.

The only exception is if you had covid and you are within 10 days of a positive test, a mask must be worn at all times when you’re in the office.
Please make our staff aware of the positive test, so we can take appropriate measures.

We realize how hard it is to be a wise and prudent parent these days and how difficult it is to decide what is the right course of action to take on many issues concerning the medical care of your children. There are many sources of information available to you, some of which are inaccurate or completely untrue. Since we make it a point to be current and up to date on many medical issues, we would like to be a trusted resource for all medical concerns you may have. One of the issues that seems to be quite confusing is that of Vaccinations. There are many opinions concerning Vaccinations and even increasing numbers of people on the internet feel vaccines are unsafe.

Dr. Herrin has reviewed all the credible medical evidence concerning vaccinations and we have concluded that Vaccines are safe and the schedule given by the American Academy of Pediatrics and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the CDC is the most prudent and efficacious method to provide immunizations. We feel that the best medical practice is to adhere to this schedule at all times, since it is reviewed frequently and the latest recommendations are made every year based upon the best medical evidence available.

Furthermore, we are aware that many alternative vaccine schedules are being promoted on the internet by certain groups and even some physicians. Most of these are not medically evidence-based and the consequences of using these schedules have not proven not to harm children. Therefore, we will only use the medically proven schedules at Herrin Pediatric Clinic. As always, flu and Covid-19 vaccines are always optional. Should you choose to not vaccinate your children or you feel that you must vaccinate your children by some other alternative schedule, you will be asked to find another provider of medical care for your children.

We believe it is crucial when choosing a pediatric practice for your children that you give serious consideration to the fit between the practice philosophies and your own. We strive to provide excellent care and believe that only happens when the physicians and staff are aligned with your family priorities and beliefs. Please review our office policies to help you determine if we are the appropriate home for your children. We are available by phone for any questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to meeting you and forming a mutually rewarding relationship.

Insurance copays and deductibles are expected to be paid at the time of service. If you are unable to comply, you must speak with the billing department prior to the visit to set up a payment arrangement.

As a courtesy, we will remind you of your upcoming appointments via phone/text message/email. We understand sometimes things happen beyond your control that may cause you to be late. If you know you will be at least 10 minutes late please call and let us know. However, we reserve the right to ask you to reschedule if you arrive late for your appointment. Our practice makes every effort to run on time with appointments, as we believe everyone’s time is equally valuable.

Missed Appointments: Missed appointments represent a cost to us, to you, and to other patients who could have been seen in the time set aside for you. A fee will be charged for a missed appointment. We request 24 hours’ notice for cancellation of appointments. We reserve the right to charge a fee for appointments canceled without 24 hours’ notice.

We accept most commercial insurance. If you have questions regarding a specific plan, we recommend contacting your insurance company. It is your responsibility to know the limits and coverage of your particular health insurance policy, to show your cards to us at each visit, and be prepared to pay any copays or deductible at the time of service. Our staff will do their best answer any insurance questions; however, if you have questions about your coverage, it is best check with your specific insurance company. Please read our financial policy for more information regarding insurance.

If you need a refill on a medication, you must call the pharmacy to request the refill. The pharmacy will send a refill request to the provider. If you want to transfer your prescription to a different pharmacy the new pharmacy can contact the pharmacy that has the prescription. We reserve the right to deny a refill if the patient has not been seen in our office for a well exam within the past 12 months.
If you need assistance after 5pm during the week or any time on the weekend, you will be transferred to our answering service. They will page the on-call doctor. Please try to limit your calls to urgent matters. If it is not urgent, please save it for our nurse during office hours. Medication refills should be requested during business hours only.
We try to fill out most forms during an office visit. If you need a form completed outside of an office visit, there is a $25 fee and 24- hour turnaround time. We can complete sports physicals in the office, but please bring your form with you to the appointment. Since different schools require different forms, we may not have the required form that you need. An updated copy of your shot record will be given any time a shot is given. You can also access your child’s shot record in the patient portal.
Regular hours are Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m and 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
We do not offer walk-in appointments. If you walk in without an appointment, we can schedule you for our first available appointment. We make every effort to meet the needs of our patients, offering both routine well visits and sick visit appointments. To ensure we provided you with the most efficient care we highly recommend you call ahead to schedule an appointment.
For acute care, you can call the office to speak with our triage nurse. They will help you determine if an appointment is necessary. If our nurse is on with another caller, you will be asked to leave a message and you will receive a return call the same day.

Important Clinic Update

Effective February 11, 2024, we have decided as a group to join Memorial Hermann Health System which will change our practice name to Children’s Memorial Hermann Pediatrics Conroe (CMHP Conroe). We will continue to see patients at our River Pointe office.

During this transition, the office will be closed from February 12 to February 16. We will strive to make this transition as smooth as possible. Beginning February 19, during your first visit back to our office, you will be asked to complete new patient paperwork and provide your ID and insurance card so your information can be entered into the Memorial Hermann records system. We thank you for your patience during our transition.

We will remain in network with most of the plans we are currently enrolled with (Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Community Health Choice, Humana, Tricare, United Healthcare). If you have any questions please contact the office.

We look forward to seeing you at CMHP Conroe.
